POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

These are some of our basic policies and procedures. A more complete list is on our Service Agreement that you will receive when you sign on as our client.

WHEN YOU LEAVE

Please contact us at least 24 hours before you leave to confirm the date and time of your departure so we can adjust our schedule if needed.

WHEN YOU COME HOME

Please contact us within a reasonable time after your return home. If we don’t hear from you, we worry about you and your pets. If we make an unneeded visit to your home because we weren’t notified, you will be charged for that visit.

PET SAFETY

Conway’s Pet Nana will not let any dog off leash in an unsecured area, whether at your home or off your property. This includes dogs that have an invisible fence.

If you have free-roaming cats, you agree to hold Conway’s Pet Nana completely harmless in the event cat(s) are injured or killed, do not return home, etc.

We will not walk unruly/untrained dogs, or dogs that choke themselves on their leash. All dogs must be walked on a leash, no exceptions. We will not walk dogs in inclement weather conditions.  If the weather isn’t dangerous to our well being (tornadic, severe storms, etc) we will take your dog out to relieve itself, if the dog will go outside, but we cannot guarantee they will be relaxed enough to use the bathroom.

You are responsible for supplying the necessary, in good condition, safe equipment/supplies needed for care of your pet(s), including but not limited to a sturdy, well-fitted harness (halter, collar, etc.) for walks or in case of emergencies, firmly affixed vaccination tags, a lead rope or leash, pooper-scoopers, litter boxes, food, cleaning supplies, medicines, pet food, and cat litter.

If needed, Conway’s Pet Nana will purchase any necessary supplies. You agree to reimburse Conway’s Pet Nana for the cost of the supplies and a service charge for obtaining the items. These charges must be paid within 14 days of your return home.

KEYS

No keys will be mailed by regular mail, hidden outside or locked in your home on the last visit.

If you choose to have us keep your key as a backup, they are stored in a safe, secure location with nothing to identify them with your name or address.

Should your key(s) become unusable or malfunction, or for any other reasons beyond Conway’s Pet Nana’s control, Conway’s Pet Nana has your authorization to employ a locksmith to gain entry into your home. You will be responsible for all expenses incurred and will reimburse Conway’s Pet Nana upon your return.

There is a $10 fee for any future key pickup or drop off.

SCHEDULING

Conway’s Pet Nana recommends that you book your pet sitter as soon as you know the dates you’ll be gone. It’s not necessary for you to know the exact dates as we will pencil you in and then contact you if we get another request that may conflict with your dates.

We do not guarantee specific times for your pet sitting visits. A 2 to 3 hour window is acceptable. Our pet sitting visits typically fall between 6 am and 9 pm, and are usually done during this time unless we have a heavy workload. In case your pet needs a medication at a specific time, or has a specific medical condition a 1 hour window is acceptable.

If your pet only requires one visit a day, we will ask what time you prefer us to visit, but we cannot guarantee that time frame. These visits will be scheduled to fit in between our other visits. We will do our best to ensure that these visits are no more than 24 hours apart.

MEDICATIONS

We are happy to provide medication to your pets, however you understand that Conway’s Pet Nana sitters are not vet techs and are not experienced in veterinary care.

You acknowledge that Conway’s Pet Nana will give insulin injections as instructed by you, but we cannot guarantee the outcome of such injections. We will care for diabetic pets as long as their condition is stable and you provide us with accurate dosing instructions. We do not do glucose testing.

You understand the risks involved, and agree that Conway’s Pet Nana will not be held liable for harm or death to your pet(s) resulting from insulin injections. You also hold Conway’s Pet Nana harmless in the event your pet(s) suffers adverse reactions or shock while we are away from your home.

We will not pet sit for acutely ill pets, pets with uncontrolled/untreated medical conditions, dogs that jump constantly, or any pets that are aggressive. We suggest the pet be boarded with a veterinarian or at a kennel and, if needed,  are glad to supply you with phone numbers to local vets and/or boarding kennels.

We will make every effort to administer medications that the pet(s) in our care requires. However, if the pet absolutely refuses to cooperate, you the client, authorizes and accepts charges for the transport of your pet(s) to a veterinarian and for veterinary administration of medications. In the event the pet continues to prevent us from medicating them, you agree to allow us to leave the pet with the vet, and accept all charges.

Conway’s Pet Nana is authorized by you to seek any emergency veterinarian assistance needed during visits, at your cost, from any veterinarian as chosen by the sitter, should the client’s own vet not be available. We will, of course, make an effort to contact you before veterinary care is sought, but we reserve the right to have pets treated, in the event that you and/or your emergency contact is unreachable. Conway’s Pet Nana will not be held responsible for the health/well-being of the pet should you refuse veterinary care when the pet sitter deems it necessary.

Conway’s Pet Nana is not responsible if, despite our best efforts, a pet refuses to eat, drink, accept medication, or to be walked. Pets that will not eat/drink or take medication will be transported to a vet, at the client’s cost. We reserve the right to attempt to walk a dog for a period of five days. If after that time period we are still unable to walk the dog, we must terminate our agreement. You, the client, are responsible for payment of visits even if we are unable to walk the dog.

SENIORS/SPECIAL NEEDS PETS

Client acknowledges that we are not veterinarians or vet techs. We will agree to care for senior or special needs pets, according to the client’s instructions. We will make every effort to administer medications, encourage eating food or drinking water, however if the pet absolutely refuses to cooperate, client authorizes and accepts charges for transport of pet(s) to veterinarian and for veterinary administration of medications or fluids.

We trust that our client’s know their pet best and that they are confident that their pet’s condition/age will not put their pet’s health at risk by leaving them with a pet sitter rather than a veterinarian. Client acknowledges that we cannot be held responsible for the demise of a senior or special needs pet unless it’s due to our negligence of that pet.
